Invasive Species
Management issues wildlife agencies are likely to face in the "Next New World" will include invasive species, those nonindigenous, exotic, nonnative plants, mammals, microbes, birds, fishes, reptiles, amphibians and mollusks.
A special interdisciplinary session that raises awareness about new occurrences, modes of transportation, impacts on wildlife, plant, and human populations, and concepts for combating movements and outbreaks will be presented on Monday afternoon. The two-hour session will include presentations by a panel of invited speakers. Immediately following these presentations, participants interested in further discussions will be welcomed to a breakout session moderated by a professional facilitator.
The Center of Environmental Studies, Virginia Commonwealth University, the Southern Division of the American Fisheries Society, the Southeastern Section of The Wildlife Society, and the SEAFWA Aquatic Nuisance Species Committee are joinly contributing to this session.
