Call for Fisheries Papers
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) invites you to the 60th Annual Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Conference in Norfolk, Virginia, November 5-8, 2006.
The fisheries session will include:
- Oral presentations of peer-reviewed and peer-edited manuscripts to be published in the Southeastern Proceedings;
- Oral presentations of unpublished studies (abstract only; limited to space available on the program); and
- Posters
Manuscripts on marine, estuarine, and freshwater fisheries topics, including but not limited to management, research, and culture, are encouraged. Case histories are particularly encouraged. Poster abstract submissions are limited to one typewritten page and must be submitted to the Poster Program Team Leader. Poster size cannot exceed 4 feet by 8 feet. Students: indicate if you wish to be considered for the best student poster award.
Our conference theme, "Wildlife Management in the Next New World," was designed to focus the spotlight on the many struggles that natural resources managers have trying to balance conflicting demands on wildlife resources. Today, people and wildlife struggle to live in harmony. In keeping with this theme we would like to extend a special invitation for papers, posters, and workshops that discuss fishery management issues in relation to increasing demand on aquatic resources.
Presentations Awards
The best overall fisheries presentation will be awarded. An award will also be given to the student presenting the best poster. Students wishing to participate in the poster awards should indicate in their submission that they wish to be considered.
Deadline & Guidelines
The deadline for manuscript, abstract, and poster submissions is April 28, 2006. Please consult the guidelines for submissions.
